NEW BAJA BOOK------OASIS
OF STONE--------
Photographs by Miguel Angel
de la Cueva. Text by Bruce Berger…
Visions of Baja California
Sur. Gorgeous full-color photography by award-winning
photographer Miguel Angel de la Cueva and evocative
text by Bruce Berger (Almost an Island, The Telling
Distance), bring the southern half of Baja California
to life. Beginning with its unique geology and moving
on to the coastal, desert, and mountain ecosystems
of Mexico’s little-known peninsula, this lushly
decorated coffee-table book highlights the flora
and fauna….This beautiful book is broken up
into 4 sections…..Rock that Flows –
A Stroll through the Thorns – Creatures of
Mirage – The Newcomer…….
We have several copies of
the Magnificent Peninsula-Jack Williams. Published
in 1992 it is one of those fairly hard to find books
on the Baja……some of the material is
of course dated but nonetheless it will make a nice
addition to you Baja collection…
MARCH 13TH-Alec Wilkinson’s
long awaited book will be available…The Happiest
Man in the World: An Account of the Life of Poppa
Neutrino.
Wilkinson simply observes,
acting as our conduit to this abrasively compelling
personality. The portrait of Neutrino that emerges
from these encounters and anecdotes is a truly captivating
story. We hopefully will have some signed copies
available at some point in time.
DRY BORDERS –Great
Natural Reserves of the Sonoran Desert…Edited
by Richard Stephen Felger and Bill Broyles- the
authors consider the Sonoran Desert from six general
aspects. It introduces those who make the desert
their home, including both native peoples and visiting
scientists. Discusses birds, bugs, and botany, all
the things that live and grow in the borderlands,
It examines the waters and the aquatic life of the
region from the Colorado River to the Sea of Cortez.
Focuses on protecting the preserving the desert
and its increasingly endangered species into the
future, and includes a geographic dictionary.
