BAJA BOOK BEAT

HAPPY NEW YEAR

GRAHAM MACKINTOSH NOTED BAJA AUTHOR will be at the Book Store on Tuesday February 20th at 2PM…….for those of you who have not had the opportunity to meet and listen to him you’re in for a real treat….Graham is the author of 3 wonderful Baja Books………INTO A DESERT PLACE his first book details his 3,000-mile walk around the coast of Baja California.. Walking all the way and carrying his essential supplies on his back, Mackintosh had to learn fast how to stay alive. Into A Desert Place is his account of how he equipped himself, what he saw and learned, and how he survived on this harsh and beautiful journey. He followed up with his 2nd book JOURNEY WITH A BAJA BURRO,,,,In Journey with a Baja Burro, adventurous traveler Graham Mackintosh returns to the remote setting of his previous book Into a Desert Place. On this expedition he hikes a thousand miles from the U,S, border south to Loreto to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Loreto mission, the first permanent mission of the Californias. Walking along trails, dirt roads, and sometimes on the main highway, Mackintosh and his endearing pack burro “Mission” traverse scorching desert and frigid pine-covered mountains to visit most of the mission sites along the way. In NEARER MY DOG TO THEE. his last Baja book Graham has chosen the Sierra San Pedro Martir mountains as the backdrop for this story…..”Sky Island” where an ancient forest seems to touch the stars….from his base camp tucked amongst aspens and pines, Graham focuses his inquiring mind upon this unique woodland and ends up delivering his readers a profound sense of the sacred. Mackintosh’s engaging text reminds us that life’s truest rewards often reside close at hand, in old growth pines, hared campfires, and cast off dogs.” (Bill Evarts Author of Torrey Pine: Landscape and Legacy)
